People Centred Manufacturing – Heinz Avendano


Operations management requires knowledge and skill in operations processes, techniques and technologies but these are of little value if they cannot be applied in an organisation. In this interview, Heinz Avendano, Vice President of Manufacturing at Primex in Langley, British Columbia, describes how his very effective approach to integrating people, processes, techniques and technologies works.

Heinz discusses the challenges that manufacturing faces in today’s globalised and technology enabled world and how his people centred approach is helping Primex successfully manage their growing business. Heinz has have more than 25 years experience in leadership, manufacturing and quality systems from plastics, steel and other industries. He holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Universidad Autonoma de Mexico, a certificate in project management from UBC and a master’s degree in organizational psychology from Adler University.
